Vietnam vets … not forgotten
Bob Meehan was a young man when he was required to register for National Service in 1969. He served most of his two years compulsory military service as an infantryman within 12 Platoon, Delta Company of the 4th Battalion of the Royal Australian Regiment (4 RAR). During that time he was posted to Townsville and South Vietnam and was discharged in late 1971. In the early 1980s, he became involved with Australian Vietnam Veterans movements and he is still actively involved today.
Bob did not intend these books to be long and detailed accounts of his life, of military units, battles or a blood and guts excursion into war, but more a glimpse of his life growing up in the bush and then the city, of being a young tradesman, of being called up for military service and of experiencing a period of time that changed his life, and our country forever and then, his return and adjustment to life as a civilian. The result are the books:
Many a Long Road Travelled
(ISBN: 978-1-921919-38-1 RRP $29.95)
In Support of Fellow Veterans
(ISBN: 978-1-92199-40-4 RRP $29.95)
Together Then, Together Again
(ISBN: 978-1-921919-39-8 RRP $29.95)
Bob includes the personal stories of a great many people for whom he has the greatest respect, people he admires. Those most magnificent people who allow him to call them MATES.
