ABC ‘THE DRUM’: PTSD. PROTECTING THOSE WHO SERVE TO PROTECT US But first to Glenn’s story which is so typical of the stories that followed. After serving in Timor, he went off to Afghanistan, waving goodbye to his wife and three boys. He came back on leave, for a short time, and seemed a bit distant. His wife Paula didn’t worry too much. His assignment was tough, ugly, and he didn’t want to talk about it. She understood that. And then last year he returned from his deployment in Afghanistan, planning to take a month’s leave. But within days, Paula knew something was wrong. She questioned whether it was her marriage, whether it was her. She tried to talk to him, and to the army and to anyone who would listen. | 8 MAR |
